"I owe them my life," Johnson said of health workers, praising the efforts of British doctors.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson, 55, was transferred to a hospital in London a week ago, where the coronavirus test was positive, and he was transferred to intensive care after his health deteriorated, where he remained until April 9.

I can't thank them enough," Johnson said of St. Thomas hospital staff. I owe them my life." The comments were published to reporters and confirmed by his office on Sunday.

Johnson returned to normal health by Friday, and he was walking for short distances between rest periods, in what his office described as the first stage of recovery.

In his latest official update on Johnson's case, Downing Street said he "continues to make very good progress".

The number of injured in Britain approached 80,000 on Sunday and the death toll to 10,000, the fifth highest national number in the world, after officials reported 917 other deaths in the hospital.
